Leadership training creates a platform
“I have received leadership training under ADD’s leadership program in Cambodia,” Vireak said in ADD’s account. He described gaining a platform to participate in the disability justice movement. Co-chief executive Mary Ann Clements said the organisation wanted disabled people to make their own funding choices.
Women organise against domestic violence
ADD’s report on 2023 described the Join Us for Social Transformation project in Cambodia, working with disabled women who had survived domestic violence. Support groups connected women with one another and shared advice. Small grants also helped participants develop income-generating activities, including growing vegetables for sale.
A later report follows small businesses
In its review of 2024, ADD described grants supporting Vannet’s group in Cambodia through its UnlockIndependence appeal. Srey Oun had started tailoring and Chou Ry a grocery stall. ADD reported that these activities helped the women earn money to support themselves, connecting local organising with economic independence.
