Organisations cover five regions

The partners were Campaign for Good Governance, WAYNPEED-SL, Advocacy Movement Network, MoPADA-SL and SEND Sierra Leone. They were assigned the Western, Northwest, North, South and East regions respectively. Their planned work covered voters’ rights and responsibilities, procedures and the proportional-representation system to be used that year. [1]

District groups create routes for participation

The commission had also established district coordination groups on gender and disability. In November 2022, youth representative Marie Bangura urged communities to share electoral information: “We must encourage each other”. The groups were intended to help participants understand electoral processes and discuss equal participation close to home. [2]

Funding supports preparation and wider engagement

Ireland and the European Union signed support agreements on 9 November 2022, committing €1.5 million and €1 million respectively to the UNDP-managed election fund. UNDP announced a further US$4.5 million contribution. Resident representative Pa Lamin Beyai linked the programme with stronger electoral institutions and greater participation by women, youth and disabled people.
