Everyday tasks in a logistics operation
The company described participants picking orders, assembling sets, packing goods and preparing shipments. Trained rehabilitation staff accompanied the activities. Post Systemlogistik said the arrangement allowed people to take part without the stress and performance pressure of ordinary production work. That is the provider and company account of the model, rather than a measured health outcome. The setting nevertheless differs from a stand-alone workshop: the activities take place within an operating business and form part of its logistics processes.
City and company describe the cooperation
The City of Vienna announced the visit a day earlier and described the project as a structured opportunity for people with mental health conditions to find their way back towards working life. Its account and the company release both located the project at the Strebersdorf logistics site. Post Systemlogistik, a subsidiary of Austrian Post, said the relationship with REiNTEGRA had developed from contacts around the pandemic testing programme Alles gurgelt. The longer-term cooperation subsequently began in January 2024. Vienna social affairs councillor Peter Hacker said participation required opportunities to contribute, including vocational activity and an organised daily routine. [2]
Daily structure has a specific status
The funding body’s description of Tagesstruktur, or structured daytime activities, explains an important distinction. The service supports people who currently or permanently cannot participate in the labour market, helping them maintain and develop individual abilities. Participants receive a recognition payment for their activity rather than an ordinary wage. Fonds Soziales Wien explicitly states that this is not an employment relationship subject to social insurance. Participation inside a company therefore must not automatically be counted as recruitment into regular paid employment.
A route towards work, with support
Fonds Soziales Wien says that some day-activity providers also offer work training and help with finding a job in the open labour market. Its service framework includes needs assessment and support, rather than a promise that everyone will move into a job. For the Strebersdorf cooperation, the documented development was access to supported logistics activities and a daily routine in a business setting. The August announcements did not report a verified number of participants subsequently hired into regular employment or a measured rate of return to work. [2][1]
