Organisations identify unequal local support

Dansk Handicap Forbund highlighted differences in the assistance available between municipalities, alongside the absence of a national action plan. Chair Susanne Olsen said the organisation would use the UN criticism in its political work with partners. Its 17 September statement turned the review into an agenda for continued advocacy.

Lev had challenged expanded coercive powers

Before the review, Lev described the civil-society submission’s concerns about institutional living and changed rules on coercive measures. Chair Anni Sørensen criticised decisions that she said weakened rights and protection. The submission objected to provisions allowing locked doors and wider possibilities for moving people without consent.

Minister promises to consider the recommendations

Minister Sophie Hæstorp Andersen said the government would consider the recommendations in its work to improve conditions for disabled people. The ministry also acknowledged the committee’s call for deinstitutionalisation strategies across sectors. Its statement described intended follow-up and cooperation, while the organisations sought concrete changes to support and rights. [1]
