Barriers also affect families
The committee found that France had not taken effective measures within a reasonable time on social support, financial assistance, accessible buildings and public transport. It also identified inadequate protection for families pushed into precarious conditions by inaccessible services and shortages of support. [1]
Organisations demand funded changes
Unapei, APF France handicap, Unafam and FNATH, which supported the complaint, called for coordinated policies with funding attached. Their demands included reliable data on unmet needs, accessible information and transport, and care adapted to different disabilities. They wanted practical changes that would enable people to choose how they lived. [2]
Government response follows parliamentary question
Senator Patricia Schillinger asked how the government would address the findings. In its answer published on 15 February 2024, the ministry argued that advances since 2018 were insufficiently reflected and cited accessibility funding and planned support services. These were the government’s response and commitments, rather than evidence that every violation had been resolved. [3]
