Theatre opens conversations about rights

NAFE used interactive theatre, drawings and puppet shows in Zarqa and Ma’an to discuss women’s rights, violence, peacebuilding and economic participation. Executive director Rania Al-Hayyouk said earlier support had helped strengthen her organisation and apply for larger funding opportunities. The initiative built on cooperation with the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund. [1]

Local knowledge guides the work

The fund’s earlier 2021 annual report described NAFE’s work with Syrian refugees and Jordanian women. Al-Hayyouk said: “Local organizations have strong knowledge, skills, experiences and tools.” Her account linked cultural barriers and economic exclusion to women’s limited participation in community peacebuilding. Community centres report women’s leadership

In a separate update on 20 November 2024, fellow UN Trust Fund partner Collateral Repair Project reviewed its 2023/2024 financial year. It reported that 92 per cent of programmes were community-led and 65 per cent of instructors were women. Its centres combined vocational training, childcare and activities for refugees and Jordanians.
