Apprentices learn several trades

The three-year programme covered sewing, fruit processing, soap-making and gardening. Trainee Hawa M’Bengue said it offered a chance to earn a living. UNDP community volunteer François Samb supported extending inclusive models to other villages. The account described UNDP’s financial and technical support for the centre’s development. [1]

Public funding also supports local training

A separate review by Senegal’s vocational training fund, 3FPT, recorded training for 41 young disabled people and children of disabled parents in Mont-Rolland in 2021. The municipality was the partner for courses in sewing and fruit and vegetable processing. The record shows another local route into practical skills. [2]

In April 2026, agricultural agency ANIDA profiled Antoine Mbengue, a farmer with a mobility disability in Mont-Rolland. As head of the Khabaranté economic interest group, he led 16 producers cultivating six hectares. The agency described vegetable production supporting his livelihood and the wider farming community.
