Practical skills for advocacy

Cipriani College of Labour and Co-operative Studies delivered workshops covering proposal writing, budgeting, leadership, communication and advocacy. Ford said the sessions helped participants understand how to move forward. She also described barriers to healthcare, including inaccessible entrances, examination rooms and toilets. [1]

A programme shaped around participation

The UNPRPD programme involved UNFPA, PAHO/WHO, public authorities and disability organisations. Its planned work addressed legal review, disability data and access to rehabilitation and assistive technology. The programme identified fragmented services and barriers that kept underrepresented groups out of decisions.

Eleven organisations involved in assessment

The subsequent UNPRPD annual report for 2023 recorded work with eleven disability organisations to assess inclusion in UN development activities. Recommendations included unified disability leadership and a dedicated disability unit. The report connected organisational training with participation in planning, implementation and monitoring.
