From rights to political action

Sessions covered EU institutions, advocacy, feminist leadership and independent living. Participants worked on communication and personal action plans for their return home. Fight For Right head Yuliia Sachuk urged them to carry forward the disability movement’s work and make the UN disability convention matter in everyday life. [1]

Meeting elected representatives

The group visited the Parlamentarium and met MEP Tilly Metz. “Politicians should not just talk about problems — they should be part of the communities they represent,” Metz told participants. Disability rights campaigner Nadia Hadad emphasised self-determination and speaking for oneself rather than allowing others to take control. [2]

Removing participation costs

The Council of Europe’s European Youth Foundation supported the programme. The application call offered coverage of travel, accommodation and other participation costs, including a personal assistant’s travel when needed. Organisers also planned continued mentoring and additional placements for selected participants after the school. [3][1]
