Assistance and home support
The government’s budget statement announced 191,000 additional hours across home support and personal assistance for disabled people. ILMI specified 57,000 personal-assistance hours and 134,000 home-support hours. It stressed that personal assistance enables people to direct their support and participate in work, education and community life. [2][1]
Costs across daily life
The government-commissioned Indecon research published in December 2021 covered assistance, transport, equipment, medicines and other living expenses. Seifu argued that accessible transport could reduce reliance on taxis, while appropriate housing, healthcare and assistive technology also affected the costs people faced. [3][1]
Disabled people involved from the start
ILMI urged the government to develop future policy with disabled people and their organisations, recognising different circumstances and support needs. It also considered the planned rise in the weekly earnings disregard for Disability Allowance and Blind Pension, from €165 to €175 in July 2027, too modest to remove employment barriers. [1]
