A disabled writer develops a film script
Wellington writer and disability advocate Henrietta Bollinger received support to develop a short-film script with filmmaker mentor Ness Simons. The annual report described a story about identity and disability, with producer Robin Murphy also involved. The plan was to prepare a script for a funding application, rather than announce a completed film. [1][2]
Theatre methods centre neurodivergent writers
Emily Duncan, based in Dunedin, received the Arts For All fellowship for Between the Lines, supported by Prospect Park Productions NZ. The project would test and document ways for neurodivergent playwrights to develop scripts. Its research was intended to identify approaches that other practitioners could use. [1][2]
Access is part of how projects are made
The 2023 Arts For All fellowship guidance required close work with Deaf or disabled communities and sharing outcomes with the Arts For All Network. It allowed spending on fees, materials, travel and access costs. Another recipient, The White Room, planned Tiny Rooms with disabled artists and TinyFest, bringing artists into curatorial decisions.
