An autistic user contributes his experience

ENIL’s annual report records a contribution from youth-board member Nicolas Joncour about using personal assistance as an autistic person. The discussions also covered supported decision-making and access to assistance for everyone. Participants examined different needs within the movement, alongside experiences from the two national pilots. [2][1]

Local policy meets international exchange

The first day took place at Matosinhos city hall and the second at its public library. Participants heard about municipal measures supporting work, mobility and community participation. Members shared successes and barriers in their own countries, discussed ENIL’s activities and proposed future work for the network. [2][1]

Assistance directed by its user

ENIL’s published principles place the person using assistance at the centre of decisions about staffing, timing and delivery. They also recognise supported decision-making as a way to exercise control. This approach provides a practical reference for comparing assistance arrangements, including when users need help managing their support. [3]
