The person directs the life project
Article 18 makes the person with a disability the holder of the project, able to request it and help determine and change its contents. The plan identifies services, resources, benefits and reasonable accommodations. It also requires continuity of support over time while respecting the person's self-determination. [2]
Anffas stresses freedom of choice
In a 19 July 2024 announcement, Anffas connected the reform with its work on independence, personal development and self-determination. The association argued that people with disabilities must lead their own life projects and make choices about their future. Its magazine addressed practitioners, educators, disabled people and families involved in making those choices possible.
Services face a practical transition
Anffas began the service-transition strand of its Tuttinclusi project on 9 October 2024. It examined how residential and day services could become more inclusive. A further phase launched in December planned interviews with 54 disabled service users and family discussion groups, bringing their experiences into work on service design and quality of life.
