Campaigners welcome a change in recognition

Pink Cross marked the opening by recalling thousands of people involved in the campaign. Board member Jan Müller said: “At last, the state no longer distinguishes which gender you love!” The organisation also welcomed access to professional sperm donation in Switzerland for female couples, with both mothers recognised from birth.

Partnership conversion remains a choice

In guidance published before the change, lawyer Roman Kern explained that existing registered partners could retain their status. Conversion was not automatic. He encouraged couples to understand the financial arrangements attached to marriage and discuss property and household expenses before making their decision. [3]

The campaign continues beyond marriage

Pink Cross also published a family-policy paper. Director Roman Heggli called for arrangements that protected different family structures. The organisation proposed a central register of parentage information and legal recognition of more than two parents. These were campaign demands, alongside the marriage reform that had entered into force.
