Support continues beyond lessons
Coly joined the school in 2020 after running a nursery linked to a regional union of disability organisations. She also visits families, encouraging parents to let children practise tasks independently. She described seeing pupils succeed as a source of satisfaction, while explaining that afternoon sessions help resolve difficulties left over from lessons. [1]
A budget for wider provision
A July 2025 study examined the cost of extending teaching assistance across four education districts. Its smaller scenario proposed reaching 30 schools, with a projected budget of 1.9 billion CFA francs for 2025–2030. The education ministry and its partners were considering expansion; the figures represented planning scenarios. [2]
Teachers and civil society work together
HI describes collaboration with schools and civil-society organisations to improve teaching and include disability in teacher training. The approach combines individual classroom support with changes to lessons and the school environment. Coly’s daily work illustrates how communication support can help pupils learn alongside their classmates. [3][2]
