Education and accessible services

State Minister Anupa Pasqual called for changes to make education more inclusive and for accessible tourism. UN resident coordinator Marc-André Franche said implementation required cooperation between government, civil society and UN agencies. Training materials were provided in local languages and accessible formats to support participation in the work that followed. [1]

A national picture of unmet needs

By December 2024, UNDP reported that the resulting situation analysis had identified both progress and gaps. It highlighted the lack of dependable disability data and work with WHO on a model disability assessment. The organisation also stressed the need for support designed around the leadership and choices of disabled people.

Organisations shape the follow-up

The UN’s 2024 results report credited organisations of persons with disabilities with helping produce the analysis alongside government partners. It also reported stronger involvement in programme design, policy discussions and emergency planning. Systematic collection of data broken down by disability remained a challenge identified in that report. [3]
